YMSCA recieves Morelia's Genesis Award

Representatives from the Yakima Morelia Sister City (Y-MSCA) Board of Directors are in Morelia this week to accept the prestigious Genesis Award on Saturday May 26.

Eleven Genesis Awards are granted each June in Morelia to leaders and groups who promote social development through many categories, including culture, environment, academia and many more.  

Y-MSCA will be receiving the Social Merit award. The organization was nominated by  Dr. Rogelio Díaz Ortiz, current Secretary of Tourism & Culture of Morelia and long-time collaborator with the Y-MSCA. He is also the president of the Genesis Board. The nomination was unanimously approved by the Gensis Board of Directors.

In the nomination, the Y-MSCA was recognized for the following: its enduring support for Morelia, its capabilities as an organization, the integrity of its work and projects, and its unselfish efforts to maintain a vital and useful sisterhood. There were many nominations for this award from all over Mexico and Michoacán.
